Job description
This is an exciting opportunity to spend extended periods of time on board a light aircraft capturing remotely sensed data using a variety of instruments. This includes the collection of LIDAR, Aerial Photography and Hyperspectral data to help the delivery of our work programmes.
You will have the opportunity to see England from the skies providing data to inform policy and decision makers across the Environment Agency and DEFRA, helping us to create a better place for people and wildlife.
Our survey aircraft capture LIDAR data on 24/7 basis when the weather conditions allow. Because of this we work flexibly both during day and night hours including weekends and bank holidays. You will receive a 20% shift allowance on top of the advertised basic salary in reward for this working pattern.
In addition to this you will be required support in planning aerial survey tasks, manage data and complete supervised survey equipment installation. You will liaise and work closely with our small team of expert surveyors to deliver high quality data.
The role is based at our operations office at East Midlands Airport and includes responding to flood incidents when required.
